Piano Lessons in English – in Düsseldorf and Online

Looking for a piano teacher in Düsseldorf who speaks English? I teach children and adults in English at my studio at Vogelsanger Weg 111 – ideal for international families and expats. If you live further away, the same lessons are available online via Zoom.

Would you like to learn the piano or take your playing to the next level, but you don’t live in Düsseldorf or can’t fit regular trips to a studio into your schedule? My online piano lessons give you a personal teacher via video call, right at your own instrument, in English, German or Italian.

I’m Marco Grilli, a concert pianist and piano teacher with more than 15 years of teaching experience. I trained at the Accademia Pianistica Internazionale “Incontri col Maestro” in Imola, Italy, with Leonid Margarius and Anna Kravtchenko. Based in Düsseldorf, my students regularly win first prizes at “Jugend musiziert”, Germany’s national music competition for young musicians.

How it works

1. Book a free trial lesson

In a free, no-obligation online trial lesson we get to know each other, talk about your goals and check sound and video together.

2. Set up the technology

Lessons take place on Zoom. Beforehand, I’ll send you a short guide on how to set up Zoom properly for piano music. It only takes a few minutes and makes a big difference to the sound.

3. Regular lessons

We agree on a fixed weekly time. You play, I listen closely, give you specific feedback and demonstrate passages directly at the piano. During the lesson we can look at the score together on screen.

What you need

An acoustic piano or a digital piano with a weighted keyboard
A laptop or computer with a camera (a tablet also works)
A stable internet connection
Headphones, to avoid echo
Optional: an external microphone and a second device (e.g. a smartphone) showing your hands from above

Fees

Online lessons cost the same as lessons in my studio in Düsseldorf. I’ll be happy to go through all the details with you during the free trial lesson.

Frequently asked questions

Can you really learn the piano online?

Yes. With the right settings I can hear tone, dynamics and articulation very precisely. Because video calls always have a slight delay, we don’t play at the same time but take turns: you play, I give feedback and demonstrate.

Is a digital piano good enough?

Yes, a digital piano with a weighted keyboard works well for lessons. If you don’t have an instrument yet, I’m happy to advise you on choosing one.

Which language are the lessons in?

Whichever you prefer: English, German or Italian.

Which time zone are lesson times in?

All lesson times are in German time (CET/CEST).
